POLOKWANE – The fault responsible for setting off the fire alarms and the offices of Lepelle Northern Water was traced to a fault on one of the electricity supply lines.
Earlier this morning employees of the entity were called upon to leave the building after the smell of fire was detected and the fire alarms went off.
The Polokwane fire brigade was called to the site and after having thoroughly checked the building it was found that the problem was with electric cables. Another company, Masondo Fire, was engaged and traced the fault on one of the electricity supply pipes.
“Since Lepelle-Northern prioritized the safety of its employees, they were released and will report back for duty on Monday, 19 February 2018. Fortunately, there was no casualties. The Chief Executive and Managers of Lepelle Northern Water wish to commend staff’s behaviour during the evacuation,” said Simon Mpamonyane, Communications Manager at Lepelle Northern Water.
He said the fault on the cables will have been sorted out by Monday.

POLOKWANE – According to Simon Mapanyanye, spokesperson of Lepelle Northern Water, there was a smell of smoke and the fire alarms went off.
“All personnel were then asked to vacate the building with immediate effect. The fire brigade is on the scene and searching the building to see what the cause of the smell and alarm was,” he told Review.
