Lucas Peter Sinclair, a local bishop who faces seven charges of sexual assault, was expected to appear in the Mankweng Regional Court on Monday and Tuesday to continue with trial but his appearance could not be confirmed by National Prosecuting Authority Limpopo Communications Manager, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.
Sinclair was arrested in February 2016 on various charges of sexual offences involving nine victims. Soon after his arrest Sinclair collapsed in the dock of the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court during his first appearance.
Presiding Officer Joe Abrahams then, before postponing the case for bail application, ordered that the accused be taken to hospital and examined.
Sinclair was granted R5 000 bail on condition that he does not interfere with any of the witnesses and complainants.
