BREAKING NEWS: ANC NEC recalls Jacob Zuma

Zuma's recall is in accordance with Rule 12.2.21.2 of the ANC Constitution.

POLOKWANE – The announcement was made by ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule on Tuesday afternoon during a media briefing.

According to Magashule, a special meeting was held on Monday night to reflect on the current situation pertaining to the position of the President of South Africa as well as in the interests of the country.

“The NEC noted that the president had agreed in principle to resign and had proposed time frames extending from three to six months,” he said.

However, the National Executive Committee noted that the country is going through a period of uncertainty and anxiety as a result of the unresolved matter of transition.

“The decision by the NEC was taken only after exhaustive discussion and further provides certainty to the people of South Africa at a time when the economic and social challenges facing the country require urgent and resolute response,” he concluded.
