Buy a ticket to win a Valentine’s treat and support a Tommie

The annual Kaskar-race at Technical High School Tom Naudé is one of the biggest events in any Tommie’s life.

POLOKWANE – From as early as January learners start to prepare and plan the team’s attire. The strongest learners are chosen to push the carts while those weighing the lightest begin training to steer.

This race, however, does not only need brains and manpower, it also needs money so they embark on initiatives to raise money for all their necessities.

One class, the Gr 12E’s, decided to use Valentine’s Day to raise money.

“We are putting together a hamper made up of, among others, sponsored flowers and chocolates. We will then sell raffle tickets and the winner will receive the hamper to spoil a loved one, or themselves,” Miguel Vilar, one of the learners, explained.

Raffle tickets cost R20 for one and R30 for two and the draw will take place on Tuesday, 13 February.

“We need money for our attire for the Kaskar-race which is set to take place on Friday, 2 March at the school. We would also love other sponsors to assist us with costs to get our carts in perfect order.”

Calwick Moloto, Carol Maleka and Miguel Vilar from Gr 12E at Tom Naudé discus the Kaskar-race and a way to raise money for it:
