[WATCH] Poach a pear for your loved one this Valentine’s Day

The Pavillion's head Chef, Gavin Rauch, prepared a delicious Red Wine Poached Pear dessert for Review

POLOKWANE – With Valentine’s Day around the corner, loved ones are deciding what to get their significant others.

However, showing someone that you love them doesn’t always have to be in the form of a gift that you bought. Making something is equally as special.

Chef Gavin Rauch has the perfect dish in mind:

What you need:

  • Pears
  • 1l red wine
  • One cup of sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Eight black pepper corns

Method:

  • Cut the bottom of the pear so that it can stand up straight on the plate.
  • Try to keep the stalk for decoration purposes.
  • Peel the pear
  • Put it in a pot and fill it with the wine and sugar.
  • Add the cinnamon and pepper corns.
  • Put it on the heat and let it boil.
  • Make a red wine reduction
  • Serve with custard and a glass of red wine.
