There is no better way to end a day’s hard work than watching the sunset from the deck at Adega Restaurant while enjoying one of the wide variety of cocktails and Valentine’s Day provides the ideal opportunity to sample this experience with the special person in your life.
Going through the extensive menu of cocktails that includes ‘Mai Tai’, ‘Green Apple Spritz’ and ‘Shelley Point’, other exotic names like ‘Bisquit Courvoisier VS Mule’ and ‘Monks Martini’ captured the imagination during a recent visit to the restaurant. Polokwane Observer decided to opt for the ‘Summer in the city’ that is made with 25 ml Amaretto, 25 ml strawberry liqueur, pomegranate juice and lemonade. The tall glass was garnished with strawberries and a slice of fresh pineapple with the always present mini umbrella to provide the sense of relaxation.
“We are offering a 50% discount on the menu prices of our cocktails during the happy hour on weekdays from 17:00 to 19:00,” Restaurant Manager Louise Pretorius says and adds that many of the early visitors cannot resist the aroma of the restaurant’s freshly prepared dishes and decide to remain for dinner and make an evening of it.
Snack baskets, a variety of sushi and Adega’s newly introduced hamburgers are also available for those popping in for a quick bite.
‘Master of Cocktails’ at the restaurant, Alfred Tshepo, says that he has been doing cocktails for seven years now.
“The secret of a good cocktail is not only the ingredients, but also the way it is prepared and served,” he reckons.
Tshepo was quite willing to share the recipe of his ‘Cranberry Summer’ that is made from 25 ml Olmeca Black Tequila, 25 ml Vodka and a dash of passion fruit cordial, laced with cranberry juice and garnish with fresh fruit.
His ‘Adega Fruit Collins’ is made of 25 ml coconut syrup, 25 ml Vodka and 25 ml Amaretto and topped-up with Appletizer and garnish with fruit.
