POLOKWANE –Â Magagane was joined by Radio Turf in partnership with the University of Limpopo, Mankweng police, Eskom, Mankweng Youth Development and Save the Children during the visit.
According to Radio Turf Deputy Station Manager, Makwena Mamadi, the visit was aimed at improving school functionality and to congratulate schools that achieved excellent results last year, while encouraging underperforming schools to pull up their socks in this year.
Magagane said learners should abstain from sexual activities and drugs and spend quality time on their school work.
“I have never seen any successful person who is a drug addict and therefore we need to ensure we avoid drugs in our academic journey while the time is still in our favour,” said Magagane.
“Our province continues to struggle to produce good results and it is up to the class of 2018 to ensure we work hard for a better position.”
Ditlalemeso Secondary School, which performed well last year, was one of the schools visited.
Student Recruitment Officer at University of Limpopo, Gloria Maila, urged the Gr 12 learners to start applying for admission to tertiary institutions now to avoid queues and disappointment at the beginning of the 2019 academic year.
“We want to encourage learners to apply as early as possible and to prepare all application documents including the applicant’s certified copy of ID, latest school results, proof of residence and parents or guardians’ ID,” said Maila.
Eskom Customer Relations Manager, Dikgabane Rampedi, donated study material and motivated the learners.
“With hard work and dedication there is no reason why the current crop of Ramashobohle and Ditlalemeso Secondary Schools should not reach even greater heights,” said Rampedi.
Ramashobohle Secondary School Gr 12 learner, Salome Maponya, thanked all the stakeholders for their warm support towards their dreams.
“As learners we promise to work hard towards our studies and ensure we utilise this opportunity to network with our teachers and fellow learners to ensure we produce good results at the end of the year.
