Polokwane Executive Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng’s Bursary Fund received a welcome boost on Friday evening when a cheque for
R100 000 changed hands in anticipation of the warm up match between the Vodacom Blue Bulls and the Cell C Sharks on Saturday.
Chief Executive Officer of Blue Bulls Rugby Union, Eugene Hare and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd, Barend van Graan, presented the cheque to Nkadimeng at a gala dinner hosted for the players and their support teams at The Ranch Resort.

Polokwane Executive Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, delivers a word of encouragement to the rugby teams at the gala dinner.
Josephine Maja, Polokwane Municipality’s Member of the Mayoral Committee for Sport, Recreation and Special Focus, delivers the vote of thanks at the gala dinner.

Nkadimeng thanked the Blue Bulls Rugby Union for its continued support and emphasised that the City of Stars embraces sport as a major catalyst of social cohesion. “We have over the years used sporting events to empower members of our communities who are less fortunate by promoting access to education and recreational facilities and to provide relief where needed,” Nkadimeng said.
“This particular clash of the giants in the city continues to be the greatest contributor to the Executive Mayor’s Bursary Fund and continues to benefit disadvantaged learners of the city. I am confident that this initiative will continue to change the lives of many of our matriculants and result in success stories in years to come,” Nkadimeng added.
Nkadimeng wished the teams well for the match and said that she hopes to witness the depth of rugby talent that will be experienced. “Thank you for bringing this great event to our theatre of dreams, the Peter Mokaba Stadium,” Nkadimeng concluded.
