Construction worker dies on duty in Giyani

LIMPOPO – According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the man died on duty at the construction of a new mall in Giyani on Monday, 29 January.

Netshiunda says three workers were in a trench, estimated to be ten metres deep, when soil fell on them.

“Other colleagues tried to help the trapped workers but only two were rescued alive. The third worker was certified dead at the scene.”

The cause of the incident forms part of the police investigations.
