Police search for suspects in murder and hijack case in Burgersfort

A 36-year-old man was shot dead during a hijacking in Driekop on Sunday, 17 December 2017.

LIMPOPO – Police in Driekop, in the Burgersfort Cluster, are appealing to anyone who can identify the person in the picture above, whom they believe can assist in the investigation of murder and car hijacking in December 2017.

According to police spokesperson Constable Meinkie Ramakgoakgoa, the deceased and his girlfriend were attacked by three armed men while sitting in a car in bushes at the Motlolo village, in Driekop .

“One of the suspects produced a firearm and shot the deceased, before driving off with the deceased ‘s car and his girlfriend. They then forced her to give them a bank card and pin number,” Ramakgoakgoa explained.

The suspects then withdrew cash, amounting to R8 000, from her card at various ATMs.

The victim was later released and the vehicle was found abandoned around the Sekhukhune area.

“The victim reported the matter to police and identified the scene of the crime where the deceased was found still alive. He was rushed to hospital, but later died.”
