Accident claims the life of ANC Ward Councillor

According to ANC Ward Head of Communications Malesela Selokela, the accident left the Mapela community devastated.

MOKOPANE – Mogalakwena Municipality’s year begins under sad circumstances as ANC Ward 16 Councillor Lesiba William Mthilibofu recently lost his life following a car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to ANC Ward Head of Communications Malesela Selokela, the accident left the Mapela community devastated.

“He was involved in a horrific accident on the R518 road approximately 10 kilometres from Mapela-Ga-Pila village where he resides.”

Andrina Matsemela, Mogalakwena Municipality Mayor expressed her condolences to the Mthilibofu family and the entire community of Mapela.

“We convey our deepest condolences to the family for their sad loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. We will continue the hard work that Mthilibofu lived so passionately for, but his presence and contribution will be sorely missed.”

According to Matsemela, Mthilibofu’s passing come at a time when they were working together preparing for the annual IDP Mayoral Roadshows and uniting the organisation as per the mandate of ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa.

“Mthilibofu was a leader who worked tirelessly to contribute towards the development of the community he was serving.”

Funeral arrangements are underway and members of the media may direct queries to the family Spokesperson Mr Phillip Mthilibofu on 072 531 8856/084 589 9051. The Members of Tinmyne South African Police Services Police are currently investigating the cause of accident.
