Five more suspects arrested for cultivating dagga in Makhado

LIMPOPO – Police in the province say their continuous fight in the eradication of mushrooming of drugs across Limpopo is yielding positive results, following the arrest of five suspects in separate cases of cultivating dagga in the Makhado area.

A 55-year-old male was arrested in the Tshitale area after station commander Lt Col Madavhu and her drug team, reacted swiftly to a tip-off on Sunday morning.

Police spokesperson Constable Maphure Manamela says 80 dagga plants weighing at 45.3kg were found planted at the suspect’s homestead.

In Waterval, outside Makhado, four suspects between the ages of 28 and 34-years-old were also arrested for cultivating dagga, estimated to the value of R25 000.

“The suspects will appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court soon, on charges of cultivating dagga,” Manamela concluded.
