Brother and sister arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Makhado

Police says the possibility of linking the suspects to other armed robbery and house robbery cases around Makhado, cannot be ruled out.

LIMPOPO – According to police spokesperson, Constable Tshifhiwa Radzilane, the 28-year-old male suspect was being sought after for a burglary case in Makhado and was arrested on 11 January in Mpheno Makhakhi, in the Waterval policing area.

“During his arrest, four rounds of ammunition were found in his possession,” Radzilane said.

Preliminary investigations conducted, led police to the house of his 23-year-old sister in Mavhungeni, outside Waterval, where to 9mm pistols with serial numbers filed off as well as 11 rounds of ammunition, were discovered.  

“Both suspects were detained for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and they will appear in Tshitale Margistrate court on Monday, 15 January. The brother will first appear in Waterval Margistrate for a housebreaking case, before joining his sister in Tshitale,” Radzilane concluded.
