Escaped awaiting trial prisoner re-arrested in Lebowakgomo

A manhunt for the suspect was launched on Wednesday after the 22-year-old escaped from lawful custody.

POLOKWANE – Police in Lebowakgomo, outside Polokwane, successfully managed to track down an escaped awaiting trial prisoner on Friday afternoon, 12 January.

According to police spokesperson, Constable Maphure Manamela, the 22-year -old suspect was rearrested at a house in Lebowakgomo, Zone S, after a manhunt was launched following his escape on Wednesday, 10 January.

“The suspect, who finds himself staring at prison walls again, will soon appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody,” Manamela explained.

She concluded by saying that Limpopo police once again make a vow to those who pervert the course of justice ,that they will be hunted down and returned behind bars where they will face the full might of the law.
