Manhunt continues for child abductor (24), after baby girl is returned

The five-month-old baby girl was abducted in a suburb outside Modjadjieskloof on Wednesday morning

LIMPOPO – The situation took an unexpected turn today (Thursday, 11 Janaury 2018) when the 5-month-old baby was safely returned.

This follows an intensive search operation launched by the police in Modjadjiskloof Police after the baby was abducted from her family home outside Modjadjiskloof on Wednesday.

“The infant was brought by the mother of the alleged 24-year-old baby snatcher to Mokwakwaila Police Station outside Tzaneen at around 06:00. The mother (52) alleges she was at home in Mohlommeng Village in the Bolobedu area when her daughter, the accused, came carrying an unknown baby. She says she questioned her daughter whereby she admitted than she had stolen the baby from a house in  Madumeleng village,” explains Police Spokesperson, Constable Maphure Manamela.

A manhunt continues for the suspect and the police urge anyone with information which can assist with the her arrest is  contact the police emergency on number on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.

Police investigations continue.


LIMPOPO – The Police in Modjadjiskloof outside Tzaneen are asking the public’s help to locate a middle aged who allegedly abducted a baby girl from her family home this morning (Wednesday 10 January 2018).

“It is alleged that this unknown woman had requested accommodation at the victim’s parental house for Tuesday night. However, when the mother of the victim left to go to the local supermarket early this morning she returned to find her baby girl (5 months) and the said suspect missing,” reported Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The police were notified and a search for the suspect and the child ensued. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect initially boarded a taxi travelling from Modjadjieskloof to Makhado, but later climbed out and went to stand at a local hiking spot, he added.

According to information the suspect is a Zimbabwean national, Sotho speaking with short hair and of an average height. She was last seen wearing a a purple towel, pink short sleeve T-shirt.
