LIMPOPO – According to Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the vehicle, a Red Audi A3 TSFI, was hijacked at Matshwi village in Bolobedu on Monday night.
“The victim, his girlfriend and his younger brother were traveling in the car and upon arriving at their homestead, they were confronted by three armed suspects who demanded the car keys,” Ngoepe explained.
The suspects drove the vehicle with the three victims inside and along the Tzaneen/Kgapane road before stopping and orderred them to exit the vehicle.
The suspects then drove in the direction of Lenyenye, outside Tzneen, where the police, doing their regular stop and searches in the Maake policing area, stopped the vehicle at Mohlahlareng village.
“The suspects immediately jumped out and fled into the bushes, abandoning the vehicle,” Ngoepe said.
The vehicle was searched and a 9mm revolver was recovered.
Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba hailed police for their swift recovery of the vehicle and urged them to locate the suspects.
