Poaching syndicate members remanded in custody

Four suspects were intercepted while en route to poach at a farm outside Louis Trichardt

LIMPOPO – The four suspects arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, conspiracy to commit illegal poaching and trespassing appeared before the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court and their case was remanded to 25 January 2018.

The suspects (aged between 20 and 31) were arrested while en route to poach wild animals at a local farm on 6 January 2018.

Police investigations still continue.


Poaching syndicate intercepted outside Louis Trichardt

LIMPOPO – Strategies to fight the acts of illegal poaching in the province, have once again yielded meaningful results, says the police.

This comes after four suspects believed to be part of an illegal poaching syndicate, en route to poach wild animals at a local farm, were intercepted and arrested during a special Intelligent led Joint operation conducted in the Mara Policing area outside Makhado this week, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“During this operation, four suspects (aged between 20 and 31)  were arrested and a .375 hunting rifle, 10 rounds of .375 ammunition, two knives and four cellphones were confiscated.”

These suspects, believed to be from the Gauteng Province, will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, conspiracy to commit illegal poaching and trespassing..

Police investigations are still continuing.
