According to an earlier report the two suspects were allegedly involved in the killing of a white lion on 31 January 2017 in one of the game lodges in that area. The suspects threw poisoned meat into the lion enclosure… the white lion ate the meat, died instantly and the suspects removed the paws and head. The suspects even attempted to remove the skin of the lion before they fled the scene.

The police were notified and after intensive investigation the first suspect was arrested which was followed shortly by the arrest of the second one.

The latest arrested suspect will appear before the Bochum Magistrate Court next week, confirmed Ngoepe.

Meanwhile in the Malamulele Policing area outside Giyani, two suspects (aged 31 and 40) were arrested for possession of a protected species (pangolin) by the Malamulele Police.

The suspects will appear before the Malamulele Magistrate Court soon.

Police investigations on both the incidents still continue, he concluded.
