Limpopo traffic officer robbed at gunpoint along R81

The victim was robbed of his possessions after he stopped alongside the R81 road in the Mopani District to relieve himself yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

LIMPOPO – Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi, reports: “At around 13:15 PPI Marima R.G. stopped  along the R81 to relive himself while on his way to Malamulele. A maroon Polo Sedan, without registration numbers, stopped nearby. While the officer was talking on his cellphone the suspects, the driver and a passenger from the Polo, got out and pointed a gun at the victim and ransacked the officers vehicle. All his belongings including his identity document, appointment certificate, bank cards and official firearm were taken during the incident.”

The officer was not hurt during he incident a a case of armed robbery is being investigated by the Giyani Police.

The officer is to undergo counselling concluded Moremi.
