Joy and blessings aplenty with 54 babies born on Christmas morning

The MEC for Health in Limpopo visited the Mankweng hospital this morning.

LIMPOPO – The spokesperson for the Department of Health, Thabiso Teffo, says 54 babies were born on Christmas morning as per stats from 09:00 this morning.

“A total of 30 boys and 24 girls were born,” he said.

The first baby was born just after midnight in the Mankweng Hospital.

The MEC congratulated all the mothers and wished them a Merry Christmas during her visit to the hospital and further reminded mother’s of the importance of six months exclusive breastfeeding and immunisation of newborns.

“Prevention is key towards reduction of infant and under five mortality,” she explained.

Ramathuba also called upon absent fathers to be there in supporting mother’s to raise their children safely.

She donated hampers to new mothers and thanked hospital staff in all the health facilities in the province for delivering quality health care service at all times, including Christmas day.
