Security company robbery: one suspect arrested

Nineteen firearms and an undisclosed amount of ammunition was taken during the robbery at the security company

 

LIMPOPO – A 24-year-old suspect has been nabbed in Malamulele this morning (Saturday) after committing a business robbery using one of the firearms that were stolen from the premises of a security company at Tswinga on Friday 22 December 2017.

Nineteen firearms were stolen from the premises of the security company after the suspects used a grinder to open the burglar door and the safe, reported Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo earlier.

According to police reports after the security company robbery three suspects proceeded to Malamulele where they held a local shop owner at gunpoint and demanded money. During the robbery they  took an undisclosed amount of money, airtime printing machine, airtime, cigarettes, 2 cell phones and a digital video recorder.

The police were notified and together with the assistance of local residents, the suspects were chased down and one was arrested, explained Mojapelo.

“One firearm and six rounds of ammunition were recovered. The search for the remaining suspects and the stolen guns still continues,” he added.

 

The arrested suspect will face charges of housebreaking business, business robbery and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license.

19 firearms stolen during security company robbery outside Thohoyandou

LIMPOPO – The Thohyandou Police are hot and heels of the suspect (s) who broke into and stole 19 firearms and and undisclosed amount of ammunition from a security company in the Tswinga area overnight

Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo reports: “According to official reports, a cleaner employed by the company discovered that the premises were broken into when she reported on duty at 07:30 this morning (Friday). She contacted the owner who immediately alerted the police.”

The suspects are believed to have used a grinder to open the burglar door and the safe and steal 19 pistols and an undisclosed amount of ammunition, Mojapelo adds.

An arrest is eminent, however the police urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the nearest police station or call the 24-hour toll free number 0860010111.
