Limpopo kidnapping: body of man found, woman still missing

The vehicle in which they were travelling was found alongside the road with pieces of clothing on the passenger seat, says the police.

LIMPOPO – The 68-year-old man who was allegedly kidnapped together with an unknown female companion has been found.

His body was found in the bushes a short distance away from where the vehicle was recovered.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe bullet wounds to the body seem to be the cause of death.

Lim police launch search operation for man, woman believed to have been kidnapped outside Tzaneen

LIMPOPO – The Maake Police have launched a massive search operation for a man and a woman who were believed to have been kidnapped in and around Bismark village near Lenyenye outside Tzaneen on Thursday night.

It is believed the identified kidnap victim, Johannes Mathipa (68), was travelling with unknown woman in a Toyota Hilux with registration numbers CL 41 DD GP, when the alleged  incident occurred, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

At around 19:50 Mathipa’s family became worried when he had not yet arrived home and phoned him but got no response. They immediately notified the police who launched a search for the man and his travelling companion.

The victim’s vehicle was discovered parked alongside the road and showed signs of being tempered with indicating force, confirmed Ngoepe.

“Some female clothing, pair of black Tommy takkies and one shoe belonging to the male victim were found on the passenger seat,” he added.

A further search was conducted in and around the nearby bushes with no success.

The police appeal to anyone with information which can lead to the whereabouts of the two victims and the possible suspects involved in this matter, to contact Lt Colonel Cecil Machimani on 082 451 7181. Alternatively they can contact the 24-hour crime stop number 0860010111, the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest Police Station.

Police investigations and search are still continuing.
