Expect fresh produce from this duo

December isn’t only indicative of the festive season, it is also the season of the most delicious fruit produce.

POLOKWANE – Mangoes, litchis, peaches, watermelons and grapes are all some of the most delicious summer seasonal fruit and are widely available and extremely healthy.

This is something that entrepreneurs Pieter Mokwena and Karabo Sinyolo saw as a gap in the market and thus decided to sell these delicious fruit on the side of the road.

“We get the fruit from a farmer in Malalane, Mpumalanga, and then sell it at our street stall at R50 for a bucket of juicy mangoes as well as R50 for a bucket of litchis. We usually sell these fruit from December to February when it is in season and high in demand. The fruit are carefully transported and are as fresh as it comes. We also set up a gazebo to keep the fruit out of the sun.”

They also take various precautions in order for the fruit to stay fresh but, they added, their fruit normally don’t take long to sell.

Mangoes are an extremely versatile fruit that can be used in various dishes including salads and desserts which explains their extreme popularity.

“We want the public to know that our fruit are of top quality regardless of the fact that it is sold at our stall next to the road.”
