LIM467 muni renamed Fetakgomo Tubatse Muni

The unveiling of the new name and logo for LIM476 took place at the Thusong Service Centre grounds in Atok village

LIMPOPO – Fetakgomo Greater Tubatse Local Municipality is a name of the past following the official renaming of the municipality to Fetakgomo Tubatse recently.

The unveiling of the new name and logo for LIM476, a new local municipality formed following the 2016 local government elections after the amalgamation of Fetakgomo and Greater Tubatse local municipalities, took place at the Thusong Service Centre grounds in Atok village.

During the unveiling of the new name and logo, the Mayor of the newly named local municipality, Johannes Phokane, said it was a great honour for him to be the first mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality and affirmed his commitment to uphold the constitutional duty to lead the municipality.

Phokane said the local municipality’s slogan

‘Setšhaba se tla buna’ means something to him and he will ensure the community benefits from every cent spent from the municipality’s resources.

Acting Mayor on the day, Alfred Matlala, who took part in the unveiling of the local municipality’s new logo and name on the giant banner, expressed his gratitude and praised the mayor of the new local municipality for displaying leadership,

patience and caution in executing such a delicate exercise.

Matlala said the renaming of the local municipality was a highlight and achievement that did not come easily.

He described the name, Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, as something residents would be proud of for eternity.

“This is a name so fresh and unique that residents of the new local municipality will be proud of,” concluded Matlala.
