Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngeope reports: “The suspect was arrested after he and his accomplice gave a victim a lift from the Game Centre and drove the victim to a suburb outside the central business district (CBD). When they stopped the vehicle they produced a police appointment certificate, pointed a firearm at him and demanded money. The victim screamed for help and people nearby reacted swiftly and arrested the one suspect. The accomplice managed to flee the scene in a white Ford Fiesta with unknown registration numbers.”
The police were immediately notified and arrested the suspect. He will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of attempted armed robbery and impersonating a police officer.
The second suspect has been identified and is still being traced, confirms Ngoepe.
