Six suspected crime syndicate members nabbed during separate Limpopo sting operations

Three of the suspects were intercepted after a car chase and shoot-out with the police outside Tzaneen

LIMPOPO -Three suspects were arrested and two vehicle recovered during an intelligence led operation in the Maake Policing area, says the police.

It is alleged that the group of armed suspects where on their way to commit a spate of business robberies in and and around the area, when they were intercepted and arrested, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe..

“The police attempted to stop the suspects at Julesburg, however when the occupants refused to comply and continued driving, the police gave chase. The fleeing suspects from the first vehicle a Toyota Fortuner abandoned the vehicles and fled on foot. The occupants travelling in a VW Polo were cornered and all were arrested,” explained Ngoepe.

Several shot were fired at the police during the chase, but no members were injured.

The sueepcts (aged between 24 and 43) will appear before the Lenyenye Magistrate Court soon.

Meanwhile in the Makhado Policing area, three suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, suspected stolen properties and possession of dangerous weapons, after they were intercepted during a tactical sting operation conducted in the central business district (CBD) of Louis Trichardt, added Ngoepe.

“A pistol, magazine, three cellphones and one knife were confiscated during the arrest.”

The suspects (aged between 24 and 36) will appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police investigations on both incidents continues, concluded Ngoepe.
