POLOKWANE – According to the Deapartment of Transport, the number of fatalities during this period is lower than that of the same period in 2016, which was 66.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Moremi Matome says a speedster (38) was arrested during this period for traveling at 210km/h on the N1.

“The man was arrested and was released on R3000 bail,” he said.

Matome added that the department will adhere to their no nonsense approach to those on the wrong side of the law.

“If you are found drunk driving or beyond the speed limit, regardless of who you are, you will be arrested,” he warned.

The MEC for Transport, Makoma Makhrupetje has urged motorists to be patient on the roads and arrive alive and safe.
