[IN PICTURES] Cancer survivors honoured for their strength

Cansa held a luncheon honouring the strength and beauty of cancer survivors and those affected by it at the Oasis Hotel on Saturday, 2 December.

MOKOPANE – The guests were welcomed by delicately decorated tables, beautifully covered with colorful flowers and a fine setting.
Counsellor and event organiser Naasira Lambat, said she wanted to celebrate women across different race groups whose lives had been affected by cancer. “Cancer is close to my heart and is also the number one reason as to why my loved ones have been taken away from me. I have first hand experience in what these women survivors and women who are still fighting cancer are going through. I am an active volunteer at Cansa Mokopane and I hope this event will become an annual event and will be attended by all cultures and races, because cancer is not a race disease.”
The guests later enjoyed a fashion show presented by several matric learners and those from the Limpopo Model Academy. Ansie van Heerden from Cansa in Nylstroom opened the morning with a prayer. The guest speakers included DA Councillor Yolande Coetzee, Yoga instructor Fatima Bhyat, Ruth Modisha and Pure Romance owner Sumari Adlem. Kinna Wessels entertained the guests with a monologue.
Lambat also extended her gratitude to the donors and to everyone who offered their assistance.
“You made it a success and I hope it will become an annual event to look forward too.”
