POLOKWANE – Patel stands accused of murdering his mother, Mehjabeen Patel in September this year.

The case was postponed due to the state prosecutor, Mashudu Mudau, allegedly being indisposed.

Earlier in November three prisoners, among whom allegedly was Charles Chialani (30), escaped from the police holding cells.

Chialani was allegedly arrested for house robbery and for being an accomplice in Rameez Patel’s mother’s murder case.

Patel is also standing trial in the Polokwane High Court on the murder of his wife Fatima in April 2015.

He was released on bail for this murder, but was moved from the police holding cells to the correctional facility earlier in November after allegedly planning to escape.
