50-year-old man killed in a armed house robbery outside Mokopane

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.

MOKOPANE – According to police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident took place in the Elandskraal Policing area outside Mokopane in the early hours of this morning.

“The victim (50) was asleep with his wife when unknown armed suspects broke into their house by entering through the back window. The suspects aimed their firearms at the couple and shot the man in the head, killing him instantly,” explains Ngoepe.

The suspects then ransacked the house and stole cash and a Toyota Land cruiser.

The suspects fled the scene but the vehicle was later found abandoned some kilometres away from the house.

“The victim’s wife didn’t seem to have any visible injuries but she was taken to hospital in an ambulance because she was unable to speak,” Ngoepe said.

The suspects are unknown but Ngoepe has urged anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 084 322 1341; the crime stop number 0860010111; the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest police station.

“Police investigations will continue,” he concluded.
