POLOKWANE – For some people, going on a holiday means a time for relaxation. For others, it is a nightmare because who will look after their pets and their house?
In February 2015, House Angels was born after two friends, Thomas Swanepoel and Charl van der Nest decided to offer a service to residents in Polokwane. Charl has since left the business and Chantel van Deventer came on board.

They decided to look after people’s pets and houses when people go on holiday. They began with only two clients and their business has since grown ten-fold.
“We now have almost 90 clients. We are busy all through the year, not only in holiday season,” she explains.
“We offer services like feeding your pets and playing with them, making sure your house is as you left it, cutting of grass and watering the plants, cleaning the pool, switching on lights and all other things to make it look as if you are home.”
They offer to sleep in at your house or to just visit the house and feed the animals.
“We will also walk your dog if you do not have time to do it.”
They want to offer clients the peace of mind that their animals are looked after when they are on holiday and they want to prevent the stress of putting the animals in cages for a long time.
“We want to offer a safe haven for the animals. In the future we are looking into opening boarding kennels. We just need the right space.”
Chantel and Thomas have also opened a shop where you could buy food and other accessories for dogs, like name tags. They also offer cremation services.
