Miss Heritage has her eyes set on the Miss University Africa sash

Miss Heritage South Africa 2018 Sewela Florah Kobola, jetted off to Abuja Nigeria, to represent the country in the fifth Miss University Africa Pageant.

POLOKWANE – The Miss University Africa Pageant was established in 2010 as the first ever international pageant which excludes the bikini section. The exclusion of the bikini section is done to emphasise the beauty and brains of these individuals.

This is also aimed at discovering the innate potential of African students, celebrating this culture and promoting its investment and goal of reaching underprivileged individuals through the Miss University Africa Foundation.

The 23-year-old from Dev-Rede in Ga Mabelebele will be the only South African who will be taking part in the pageant.

“I want to represent the rich culture and heritage of our beautiful country. I would like to put Limpopo on the map, this is why I am aiming far beyond our borders. I will go out there and represent South Africa,” she added.

She is currently studying towards a B.A. degree in criminology and psychology at the University of Limpopo.

Kobola’s success in the pageant industry has not only helped her in believing in her own abilities, but has inspired her to help young girls by her aspiration of opening her own modelling school in the Dev-Rede village.

“I want to bring about a positive change in my community and hopefully inspire the youth to live towards fulfilling their dreams beyond their limitations. Modelling is not all about winning prizes and having a crown. It is about giving back to the community. I am living proof that nothing is impossible. If a rural girl like me can go to Nigeria, what makes you doubt that your dreams can come true? Stay positive, invite God in your plans and also allow Him to lead you because He will take you places,” she explained.

This year’s pageant will bring together 53 African nations for a boot camp and grooming session from 19 November until Friday, 1 December. The grand finale is set for 2 December.
