Nomasonto Ndlovu: Lim Tourism’s first black female CEO

Nomasonto signed a three-year contract with the agency and her extensive experience and knowledge in the marketing field, is expected to benefit the LTA.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Tourism Agency announced its new CEO on Monday, 20 November.

Nomasonto Ndlovu is the first black female CEO to head LTA, following the departure of Ndumiso Matlala in April of this year.

Nomasonto signed a three-year contract with the agency and her extensive experience and knowledge in the marketing field, is expected to benefit the LTA.

She has held various brand management positions at Unilever South Africa, spanning from 1995 to 2005; was the general manager at the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism Authority from 2005 to 2007, was head of brand marketing, sponsorship and events at Standard Bank in the 2007 and 2008, served as global manager of business tourism at South African Tourism from 2008 to 2012 and as a strategic executive director of communications, marketing and events in the City of Tshwane from 2012 to 2017, before taking up the current position at LTA.

According to LTA Board Chairperson, Andrew Dipela, the agency is satisfied with the appointment.

“We express our excitement to have Ndlovu as our new CEO, given the singular mandate we have of marketing our province. We are confident her appointment will ensure we maintain our top spot as the most visited province on the domestic tourism front. We will support Ndlovu and her team to achieve the agency’s goals.

“We are giving you a healthy strong organisation, it is up to you to decide what you want to do with it. We are comfortable with the achievements so far, but there are still better opportunities that could be tapped into that could take us to greater heights,” he added.

Ndlovu expressed her gratitude to the board for recognising her suitability for the position.

“I am excited to be part of the team and look forward to working with each person in the organisation, the board, the trade and the media in driving the tourism in this province. Our task is to make sure that we can maintain our position as the top domestic tourist destination,” she concluded.
