‘The dress made my Gr 12 farewell memorable’ – Maphari

Maphari Sebata (18) was one of the winners of the competition organised by Mrs Polokwane 2017, Irene Schempers in conjunction with Erika Mengouchi

POLOKWANE – It was with great excitement that Maphari Sebata (18) recently entered a competition organised by Mrs Polokwane 2017, Irene Schempers in conjunction with Erika Mengouchi, in the hopes of winning a matric farewell dress.
The Gr 12 Capricorn High School learner wrote a motivational letter explaining how much she wanted a fairytale farewell.
“I wanted a beautiful dress but unfortunately we couldn’t afford it, so I entered the competition,” Maphari smilingly commented.
“It took hours on the day of the farewell to get my hair and makeup perfect.”
She, however, had a spell of bad luck just before the event. Her transport and date for the evening both pulled out, fortunately she was able to make other arrangements for transport and attended with one of her friends.
“I knew my dress was going to be stunning but I couldn’t believe how amazing and perfect it looked.”
The farewell took place at Meropa Casino on 27 September and according to Maphari it is a day that she will never forget.
“My mom had to work on the day and only saw my dress after the farewell, however she was so proud and amazed at how beautiful I looked.”
When asked what the best thing about the farewell was she immediately replies, ‘the dress’.
“If I could have the whole day over again I would want to look exactly the same. I thank Irene for organising the competition, Erika for the fabulous dress, Salomé Vogel for my nails and La Paz Hair Salon for my hair.”
