WATER SHORTAGES: Reservoir levels low, households not affected urged to use water sparingly

Water tankers are on standby to supply residents with water

POLOKWANE – High lying areas are currently experiencing water shortages due to the fact that reservoir levels are still running low after the recent plant shutoff, says the Polokwane Municipality.

Areas affected include high lying areas like Bendor, Sterpark, Serala View and Flora Park. Low pressure will also be experienced from Webster to Magasyn streets.

Water tankers are on standby to supply residents with water and areas that may experience challenges are advised to report to the municipality on the following numbers: 0152902376/2629.

Latest reservoir levels:

Potgieter: 3%
50ml: 20%
D30ml: 10%
F30ml: 3%
Ebenezer: 46 l/s
Olifanspoort: 0% l/s

Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and urges those not affected to use water sparingly.


Water tankers to be deployed to affected areas in and around the city

POLOKWANE –  The municipality has deployed water tankers to areas that have been affected as a result of the power loss at the Olifantspoort Plant on Wednedsay evening.

The affected areas include the high catchment areas in Seshego, Mankweng and the city area, says Municipal Spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo.

“The Ebenezer Plant is also currently off due to a power loss and the Tzaneen Municipality has been engaged to rectify this situation speedily. The Olifantspoort is however back in operation”.

Residents in areas not affected are cautioned to use water sparingly, he adds.

Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and will continue to work with Lepelle Northern Water to ensure that water is restored.

Affected areas are urged to report to the municipality on 0152902376/2629.

Power failure at Olifantspoort Station

POLOKWANE – A notice has just been received from Lepelle Northern Water that there is currently no pumping of water to Polokwane due to power failure at PS2 (Olifantspoort Plant).
The matter is receiving attention, however, this will affect supply to some of the areas while the problem is being attended to.
Those not affected are advised to use water sparingly.
