The Ebenezer plant is out of commission after yesterday’s (Wednesday) heavy wind and rain damaged the electrical equipment that is servicing the pumping plant and water shortages may be experienced in some parts of the city.
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo says that the municipality is deploying water tankers to areas that are affected. “Affected areas include mostly the high catchment areas in Seshego, Mankweng and the city area. The Ebenezer plant also suffered power loss last night and is still off. Tzaneen Municipality has been engaged to speed up the restoration. The Olifantspoort is back in operation,” Mothapo confirmed.
Residents in areas not affected are cautioned to use water sparingly. The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and will continue to work around the clock with Lepelle Northern Water to ensure that water is restored. Affected areas are urged to report to the municipality on 015 290 2376/2629, Mothapo advised.
