No fatalities on Lim roads this past weekend, says Dept of Transport

The Department of Transport launched 'Operation Ndadzi' over the past weekend which yielded positive results.

POLOKWANE – Compared to previous weekend’s this month in which more than 40 lives were lost, last weekend went by without any major Motor Vehicle Accidents fatalities.

An arrest was also made when an excited speedster’s was caught driving at 246 km/h on the N1.

MEC for Transport & Community Safety, Makoma Makhurupetje made it clear during the launch of Operation Ndadzi that “we are going to hit and hit harder to rid the province of the scourge.”

Makhurupetje went on to say that one life lost is too much and she has encouraged law enforcement units to strive for an incident and accident free festive season.

The operation, which consisted of more than 1200 Provincial Traffic officers, the National Traffic Police and South African Police Service will continue every week until January and motorists are encouraged to obey the rules of the road and exercise patience on the road.
