Emslie murder suspect rearrested after escaping Lephalale holding cells

LIMPOPO – The escaped awaiting trial prisoner Petrus Moyo was re-arrested in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) during a sting joint Intelligent led  operation in Lephalale.

This is after the Lephalale Police launched a manhunt for Moyo after he escaped from the police holding cells on Monday evening, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Moyo is expected to appear before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.

Police investigations continue.

LIMPOPO – Dr Werner Emslie and his family were attacked on their farm, Goedehoop outside Lephalale (Ellisras) on the evening of Wednesday, 20 September 2017.

Emslie was shot and killed and his wife (55) seriously injured during the attack. Following a manhunt for the suspect, Petrus Moyo (27), was arrested at Frankfort on Wednesday 18 October 2017.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, says Moyo escaped from police holding cells in Lephalale last night after appearing earlier the day in the local magistrate’s court where his case was postponed to 14 December 2017.

He faces charges of murder, house breaking and theft and illegal immigration (it was confirmed that he is in the country illegally), adds Ngoepe.

According to a Facebook post on Nylstroom Veiligheid the accused was last seen wearing light blue, white, mustard color or red golf shirt and All-Star tekkies.

The Zimbabwean national is said to be between 1.68-1.70m tall.
