The body of water in which the boys drowned.

“One of the boys from the group ran to the village for help and the residents swiftly entered the water and retrieved the boy’s bodies in an effort to save their lives. Emergency services were summoned, however, upon arrival the boys were certified dead on the scene.

The deceased were identified as Tukelo Mahlanya (11) and Moruthanyana Mahlanya (11).

“We are now in the rainy season where dams and rivers are flowing and we encourage residents not to allow young children to play or swim in the water without close supervision from someone who can swim. This is in order to prevent this type of incidents from occurring,” he added.

Police investigations continue, concluded Ngoepe.
