Polokwane Municipality has warned against criminal elements posing as officials and contractors employed to install the municipality’s new electricity and water meters that are targeting households, in Fauna and Flora Park in particular.
The municipality’s Communications and Marketing Manager, Matshidiso Mothapo says in a media release that prior to the municipality or its authorised contractors entering a particular neighbourhood to install meters, notice is given to the affected residents via public platforms. “Information packs which contain images and names of the installers as well as the contact details where the authenticity of the contractors can be verified, are also distributed,” Mothapo says and advises residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to the Police.
Should residents need to verify any information regarding contracted workers, the advice is to contact the Smart Metering Support Centre on 087 350 2770 or to send an SMS to # 32915,” Mothapo concludes.
