Undisclosed amount of money taken during armed robbery and ATM bombing outside Polokwane

Westenburg police are investigating an armed robbery at the N1 Shell garage early on Tuesday morning.

POLOKWANE – At around 03:30 am on Tuesday morning, 1 November, police were called to the premises after an armed robbery.

According to police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, one of the complainants, a 35-year-old female, was on duty as a cashier at the garage.

The woman says multiple men, one armed with a rifle, came into the shop and pointed the firearm at the people working.

“The suspects took money from the tills and also bombed the drop safe, taking an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the scene,” he explained.

Ngoepe says a case of armed robbery is being investigated and police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help the police bring these people to book.

The suspects fled the scene using an Audi sedan with unknown registration numbers.

No one was injured during the robbery, however, substantial damage was done to the shop.
