Newly elected DA Deputy Provincial Chair set to take the party to new heights

The newly elected Deputy Provincial Chair for the Democratic Alliance Party, (DA) Beyers Smit does not need any introduction to the residents of Mokopane.

MOKOPANE –  He was a councillor for the DA in Mokopane and still calls the town home.

Smit thanked his friends and colleague who carried him and made this victory possible. “It is a great honour for me to serve my party and be given this fantastic opportunity to contribute to our goals for 2019.”

Korny Dekker, DA Councillor of Mogalakwena Municipality said the DA of Mokopane are pleased with the leaders elected. “Our congratulations goes out to Jaques Smalle the re-elected DA Leader of Limpopo and Smit and we know that the Limpopo DA is in good hands and they have our support.” According to Dekker, Smit currently in Australia for DA business.”

Smalle, once again walked away victorius last weekend during the party’s Provicial Elective Congress held in Polokwane.

In his speech Smalle regard his victory as the highest honour to lead the DA Limpopo at this moment in history. “During this period the future of the country will be determined. I am humbled as this congress reminded me that I am a servant of the party and I am only here because of you.”

Smalle reminded all the candidates that self-confidence in politicians is a positive attribute, “But arrogance is a negative one. There is a line between the two.” According to Smalle humility is a necessary but often under-rated strength.

Smalle’s message to the unsuccessful candidates was that they still have a critical role to play,

“Not only in our 2019 campaign, but also to reunite our members and structures post congress to once again ensure that DA Limpopo is a unified and cohesive structure with a common purpose. I am counting on your support in this regard.”

According to Smalle, leadership is not about power or self-importance, but about empowering others and to make a difference in their leadership roles. Smalle concluded his speech with the following words: “I am your servant and I promise today that I will serve with distinction and humility for the benefit of our party.”
