Dangerous duo handed down lengthy jail terms by Polokwane High Court

This follows their reign of terror in the Mankweng policing area

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane High Court has handed down long jail terms to two dangerous criminals for various offences including murder on Tuesday 24 October 2017.

The duo were arrested during a police sting operation following their reign of terror in the Mankweng Policing area outside Polokwane, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The two accused were sentenced as follows: Given Letswalo (30) was sentenced to life imprisonment plus en extra 15 years for murder and armed robbery and Nicodimus Kubayi (20) was sentenced to an effective 15 years imprisonment without the option of fine.

“They committed a spate of criminal activities in 2015 where they shoot at the victim and rob them of valuable property. During one of the incidents, Tebele Mamabolo, was killed in his car along the R71 road,” explained Ngoepe.

Following these persistent criminal activities, a SAPS team led by the Crime Intelligence Unit was immediately established and a manhunt ensued, resulting in the arrest of the two.

Police Provincial Commissioner Lt General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the Crime Intelligence operatives and the dedicated team for working tirelessly in ensuring that these criminals are brought to book and ultimately given long jail terms.

“This is a remarkable achievement in the fight against serious and violent crimes, especially where firearms are involved. We are determined to clean all our streets of any acts of criminality. We urge residents to continue supporting us through the supply of quality and reliable information at all times” concluded General Ledwaba.
