Arms cache recovered, 2 nabbed during sting operation outside Modjadjiskloof, Tzaneen

This operation forms part of the concerted effort by the Limpopo Police to deal with serious and violent crimes (specifically house robberies) which are affecting the residents of the province.

LIMPOPO – A special Joint Operation led by the Cluster Commander Major General Maggie Mathebula, had a major breakthrough with the arrest of  two suspects and recovery of an arms cache outside Modjadjiskloof.

This operation forms part of the concerted effort by the Limpopo Police to deal with serious and violent crimes (specifically house robberies) which are affecting the residents of  the province.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the operation was prompted by the persistent gun shootings during the evening in the area. All identified houses within the village were searched and subsequently, the following items were recovered:

“It is envisaged that these suspects might be part of a syndicate which have been terrorising the farming communities in this Tzaneen Cluster including Makgobaskloof and Georges Valley areas,” he said.

The suspects may be connected to similar cases and more arrests are still expected.

The suspects (aged 17 and 27) will appear before the Modjadjiskloof Magistrate’s Court on various offences including possession of firearms, ammunition without license, house robberies, house breaking and theft.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended Major General Mathebula and her dedicated team for the sterling work done.

“We hope that this achievement will provide relief to the affected communities especially the farming communities. The arrests of these criminals, should send a clear message that crime does not pay and the remaining suspects days are numbered”, concluded General Ledwaba.
