Nine people die in separate accidents on Limpopo roads

Two of the accidents took place at the Seshego Circle and the Dendron Road

POLOKWANE – According to police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, four fatal accidents took place on Limpopo’s roads on Friday night and Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning, at around 05h20, two people died in an accident that  occurred on Nelson Mandela drive, near Seshego circle.

It is understood a speeding Toyota Yaris sedan overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The driver and two other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

In the second accident, a 35-year-old male died when a sedan and a bakkie collided head on at Mohodi Ga-Manthata near Dendron.

“A driver from the sedan and a passenger sustained serious injuries,” Ngoepe said.

In Vhembe, two people died on impact when two sedans collided head on due to unsafe overtaking. 

“This accident occurred at Mukula village in Vhembe,” Ngoepe confirmed.

In the fourth accident, four people were killed near Ximoxoni village when a truck collided with a light delivery vehicle.

Three men and one woman died on impact, while one person is in a critical condition. Two other people sustained serious injuries while six sustained minor injuries.

“These accidents bring the total number of deceased to nine,” Ngoepe concluded.
