Fire destroys Tourist Information Centre in Tzaneen

The fire broke out just before midnight on Monday, 16 October

LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the security guard on duty noticed a flame and alerted the fire brigade.

“The fire brigade and the police reacted swiftly but on arrival, the whole building was engulfed. Firemen tried to extinguish it with no success,” he said.

There were no reported injuries or fatalities during the blaze and the building was destroyed, along with everything inside, including furniture and electrical appliances.

Damages are estimated at more than R500 000.

“The cause of the fire is still unknown but police investigations will tell,” Ngoepe said.
