POLOKWANE – Visitors to the Breakfast behind bars meeting earlier this week were treated to some of the best motivation that money can buy.

Inspirational orator Max Moyo spoke to the people on making changes and bettering your life by following a simple formula.

He makes extensive use of the African cultural identity in his talks, utilising traditional values, symbols and metaphors to illustrate his points.

In his presentation he said that people need to think if they are a cow or a buffalo in a situation.

“Cows will see a storm and start walking away from it then run but as the storm catch up with them they find themselves running in the storm and staying in the storm for a long time. A buffalo will see the storm and turn to it. He will start running into the storms direction meeting it as it is oncoming and quickly run through it. He spends less time in the storm because of how he approaches it,” Moyo said.

He is registered with the London Speakers Bureau, and is in demand as a life transformation coach, newspaper columnist and public speaker.

His secret to success is doing simple things that makes the biggest difference.

He says that leadership is “bleedership” and this means that you have to bleed and go through pain to be a leader.

He says that in any role a person plays he needs to grow.

1. Growth equals change:

You need to change the way you spend your time. (If you spend hours in front of a television you lose those hours being productive or spending that time with your family)

You need to change the relationships you have. (When you are broke and has friends that are broke you will talk about being broke)

You need to change the way you think about things. (Spend time thinking positive and thinking about the answers to issues that may arise not the problems themselves)

2. Change equals loss:

You need to lose more hours doing things with your time that does not help you move forward.

You need to lose people that cannot help you get to where you want to be.

You need to lose negative thoughts and thinking to better yourself and situation.

3. Loss equals pain:

It is painful to stop doing things that you became use to like watching television for a long time.

It is painful to stop being friends with people that you have known for years because they make you negative.

It is painful to stop thinking in a way and having to change your point of view.

4. At the end growing equals pain and if it was not for the pain there would be no growth.

“People just need to understand this. This is the gate that will take them to where they need to be. Read books to gain knowledge that no school can teach you and above all when there is no pain in your live create some to help you grow and be better at anything you do,” Moyo said.
