The first ‘Face of Mazreo’ crowned

"Through this pageant we as Mazreo Management Solutions wanted to change how people view modelling as a career."

POLOKWANE – Using her own personal experience with beauty pageants, Koketso Reo Mazunda and her partner, Ngoakona Makwala, gave talented young beauties the opportunity to wear the first ever Face of Mazreo crown.

The pageant on Saturday, 30 September at Siesta Lodge, aimed to fill the gaps left by other beauty pageants which fail to live up to their objectives.

These objectives, Koketso explained, are to educate as well as to uplift young women looking to enter and grow in the beauty and fashion industry.

“As Top Model Title holder of Polokwane, I felt compelled to host this beauty pageant to help young women who aspire to enter the industry.

“I want to educate them about the different careers which they can choose from within the industry as well as empower them so they believe in themselves while at the same time enabling them to build their brands.

“Through this pageant we as Mazreo Management Solutions wanted to change how people view modelling as a career.

“One of the stereotypes associated with the industry is that it is all about looking pretty on the ramp and in front of the camera but there is more to it; it requires certain skills and knowledge to make it in this industry.

“Today we saw many young women who are passionate to make something of themselves in this industry and we want to play a role in helping them succeed and achieve their goals,” Koketso said.

The event was attended by over 90 guests which included parents and supporters of the contestants and also reigning queens and kings who form part of the fashion and beauty industry in the city such as Fortunate Mphahlele (former Miss Limpopo first princess), Nare Moraswi (Miss Mamelodi Sundowns), Ronnel Homu, Kulani Ms Kulie from Capricorn FM who was the Master of Ceremonies and Marothi Mawasha (founder and CEO of LayLow clothing brand).

The winner of the pageant received R1 000 cash, swimwear from Mayluxe Swimwear, a makeup voucher from Reign Prim worth R450 and a model training contract with Mazreo Management Solutions.

Winners:

• Winner: Tshegofatso Mamabolo.

• First princess: Cynthia Kgare.

• Second Princess: Mpho Raphala.

“We plan to make the Face of Mazreo an annual event to empower even more young girls all over Limpopo,” Mazunda said.
