Impasse on Westenburg meters still unresolved

Consumers of water and electricity in Ward 19 (Westenburg) will soon be informed of the date of a follow-up meeting to resolve issues of dissatisfaction with Polokwane Municipality’s smart metering system.
Community Liaison Officer (CLO) for the project, Eugene Lyle, confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that a date for the meeting would have been fixed by noon yesterday (Wednesday).
The project in Ward 19 has, for the interim, been placed on hold.
This follows a community meeting in Westenburg Community Hall over the installation of the metering system reportedly erupted in chaos last Thursday evening that had to be dissolved as chairs were thrown around and the lights were turned off.
