A collision between a truck and a bakkie on the N1 South, meters from the Shell Ultra City exit, left one person critically injured on Monday afternoon.
According to an eye witness the bakkie, apparently carrying five persons, hit the truck on the side, forcing it to overturn. The eye witness alleged that he had seen the occupants of the bakkie consuming alcohol at the filling station before the accident occurred and suspected that the driver was under the influence.
Westenburg Police Spokesperson, Mpandeni Nkuna said three people were rushed to hospital for medical attention.
He said the cause of the accident was not yet known and that further investigations will reveal exactly what had transpired. Nkuna urged all road users to obey the rules of the road to minimise accidents.
